Employing commanders In the role as defensive coordinator, Joe Whitt

The Washington Commanders have officially announced the hiring of Joe Whitt Jr. to serve as their defensive coordinator.

Whitt was hired today by Dan Quinn, the new head coach of the Commanders, to fill the position of defensive coordinator.

Over the course of the past three seasons, Whitt has been working alongside Quinn in Dallas,

where he held the positions of secondary coach and pass game coordinator.

Though Whitt was considered a potential contender to succeed Quinn as defensive coordinator in Dallas, he has instead followed Quinn to Washington. Quinn is now the defensive coordinator in Washington.

Whitt, who is now 45 years old, has worked as a defensive assistant in the football teams of Atlanta, Cleveland, and Green Bay in the past.
