First-time Powerball player wins $100,000 in Michigan

22 September (UPI) -- When a Michigan lady purchased her first Powerball ticket and won a $100,000 reward, she had a little beginner's luck.

The ticket Latasha Robinson, 43, of Redford purchased for the drawing on August 14 from the BP gas station on Telegraph Road in Redford was her first-ever Powerball ticket, she informed Michigan Lottery officials.

"My spouse plays Powerball frequently, so I picked up a ticket while I was at the store," Robinson remarked.

The player who had never played before found out the following day that she had won a $50,000 reward that was multiplied to $100,000 by using the Power Play option. She had matched four white balls and the Powerball in the drawing.

"My spouse looked at the ticket the day following the drawing and said, 'We won!' We prevailed! When I initially bought a Powerball ticket, I believed he was kidding and that there was no chance we'd win a lot of money. The winner recounted, "When I turned the ticket over and saw we actually won, it was a weird experience.
