Following Aaron Rodgers' season-ending injury, the fresh York Jets are apparently looking for an experienced quarterback, and a fresh name has surfaced.
Ross Tucker of the Reading (Pa.) Eagle reports that the Jets recently inquired about former NFL quarterback Chad Henne's interest in joining the organization, but Henne turned them down.
After the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII earlier this year, Henne declared his retirement, saying, "I hung them up for the right reasons." I was unwilling to return and involve my body in it.
Henne spent the majority of his career with the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars until joining the Chiefs before the 2018 campaign. He won two Super Bowls while supporting Patrick Mahomes for the rest of his career.
He was instrumental in the Chiefs' 2022 postseason success when, following Mahomes' ankle injury, he guided Kansas City on a 98-yard touchdown drive against the Jaguars in the Divisional Round.
Henne's drive chewed away time, giving Kansas City a 17–10 advantage at the half. After the intermission, Mahomes would return, and Kansas City managed to hold on for the win.
Henne completed his career with 13,290 yards of passing with 60 touchdowns and 63 interceptions. It's unclear if the Jets wanted Henne to start in lieu of Zach Wilson or serve as Wilson's backup.
